Dr. Diego González Rivas completed training in Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation at the University Hospital of La Coruña where he worked since 1999-2015. He is co-director of UCTMI (Quirón and San Rafael hospital in Coruña) and UMICS in Portugal (Operating regularly in the Lisbon, Algarve and Azores) and Madrid (Nisa Vithas Pardo Aravaca Hospital) .He is a staff surgeon at the Ernst Von Bergmann hospital in Potsdam (Germany), Bielefeld University hospital in Bielefeld (Germany), Chest Disease Hospital in Kuwait, and Monza Hospital in Bucharest. He is the director of the Uniportal VATS international training program at the Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, in China. He is also an associate professor in 4 other hospitals in China
Dr Gonzalez Rivas serves on several editorial boards, he is reviewer of many scientific journals He also collaborate with educational activities EACTS,ESTS, ISMICS, STS and AATS. He is a board European certificated surgeon since 2010 (FECTS) and member of several scientific societies such as the AATS since 2016.
He was pioneer surgeon in the world performing uniportal VATS anatomic resections (first case in June 2010), non-intubated uniportal major pulmonary resections (first case in April 2014) and Unisurgeon Uniportal VATS technique (first case in 2016). He is also expert in uniportal subxiphoid resections and carinal and bronchovascular sleeve reconstructions. He contributed in the development of the subxiphoid uniportal robotic system performing the first lobectomies and thymectomies in cadaveric lab in 2018. Pioneer surgeon in the world performing pure robotic uniportal lobectomies using the Xi daVinci System (first cases in September 2021, at San Rafael Hospital, Coruña, Spain). He has published more than 100 papers describing these procedures and the results in the most important medical journals and textbooks of thoracic surgery
Dr. Liviu Mugurel Bosinceanu started lung cancer resection surgery at the Iasi University Centre, carrying out over 5000 interventions (lobectomies, bilobectomies, pneumonectomies, lobar resections associated with bronchoplasties/arterioplasties). These interventions have been carried out both in public hospitals (Clinical Pulmonology Hospital Iasi, “Sfantul Spiridon” University Hospital Iasi, Regional Oncology Institute Iasi) as well as in private hospitals (Arcadia Hospital Iasi, Polisano European Hospital Sibiu, Saint Constantin Hospital Brasov, Hospital of Oncology Monza Bucharest).
He initiated the video-assisted thoracic surgery at the University Centre of Iasi and constantly contributed to its development.
From 2019 Dr. Bosînceanu started (first in Romania) robotic thoracic surgery in Romania and I have done over 200 robotic complex surgeries for thoracic diseases (multiport robotic surgery).
He has performed in october 2020 the first full robotic Ivor Lewis oesophageal surgery in Romania.
From december 2021 he has started in Bucharest the second in the world center for performing robotic thoracic uniportal surgeries with my friend and pionner surgeon dr. Diego Gonzalez Rivas . In may 2022 we organised in Bucharest the First International Masterclass in the world in Robotic Thoracic Uniportal Surgery (UNIRATS).
Alongside dr. Diego Gonzalez Rivas he traveled in many countries (India, USA, Spain, Luxembourg , Turkey, Brasil , Ecuador) performing UNIRATS for complex thoracic cases contributing for now in over 100 cases to define , to improve and to spread this revolutionary technique among our colleagues in the world.
